But sometimes, it is necessary, I think. You have your child too well protected under your wings, they don't have the chance to make mistakes and learn from them. As they grow up, they make even more mistakes, and those mistakes often invite unbearable consequences that ruin your child life. No, I am not being sceptical. Teenagers that are too well protected are not exposed to the cruelty of the society, and they will learn that many many years later, and when that happens, normally they are already facing a crisis, a huge one.
Exposure is not such a bad thing. Give your child some freedom and they will be more open to you. Listen to what they think, it may not be like what you think. They are not bad kids, sometimes we just want to relax, or we want to explore the outside world, to see what the others are doing, and to make friends. That friend may be someone that is able to help out in the future. Of course they may encounter bad things too, and they will learn, they will start to stay away from trouble. Such then, they grow up too, in a different way.
Teenagers pretend. Sometimes, it is very tired. To be an obedient child in front of parents; A diligent student in front of teachers; An apple of everyone's eyes. But we are not saint, we want to get overboard sometimes too, to be the naughty one. There is always a small devil that lives in our heart. Sometimes you just need to let him out. And then, he will quietly creep back into his place after he had fun. That's all. Parents need their break too, they drink too, so why not us?
Actually, all of the above are nonsense. I love my parents, but I do not know how to talk to them. We do not have heart to heart talks. I do not know how to start. I guess my parents do not know as well. There are too many things that I wanted them to know, but I am afraid I will become the bad child after all, I don't want to break their hearts. I know how much they love me. And therefore, the expectation that they placed on me is high, too high. But sometimes, just sometimes, I want to be the bad child, for once.
